Why use Fire Retardant Noticeboards?

The consequence of fire spread within areas of circulation, such as corridors and escape 
routes, presents a high risk to the occupants of the building. 
Materials and items on the walls of these areas should not propagate or accelerate a 
fire, therefore allowing the occupants the opportunity to exit safely. 
To comply with building regulations, it is a legal requirement that noticeboards used in 
high risk areas must be fire retardant.

The FlameShield Noticeboard core and bonded textile are fire retardant as a composite, meeting Class 0 when assessed to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, and comply with Class B-s1, d0 when tested to BS-EN13501-1: 2002.

The clear plastic doors used in FlameShield Tamperproof Noticeboards are tested separately, and conform to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, Class 1Y.
Beware of buying boards that claim to be fire retardant through the use of fire retardant components but have not been officially tested to the appropriate fire retardant standards as a composite.
