MDF Edge
One of the most commonly used and cost-effective options for edging on classroom tables is the hardwearing bullnose MDF edge which is polished and lacquered. This type of edging is highly durable and nearly indestructible, making it a practical and reliable choice.
ABS Edge
ABS is a high grade thermoplastic that’s very resistant to everyday knocks and scrapes, so it’s great for furniture in high-traffic areas. UV-resistant, ensuring long-lasting colour properties. Typically, this product is priced higher due to its exceptional qualities and environmentally-friendly nature.
Textured or Spray PU Edge
Duraform Spray PU is a tough, durable and protective textured edging, coming in various colors to fit your needs. It also has rounded corners and is highly flexible, able to be used on tables of any shape or size. Additionally, it is impact resistant, waterproof, and has a modern appearance. It is built on a strong and durable MDF core.

BS EN 1729 2007 is the British and European standard for 'chairs and tables for educational institutions'. This sets out the standards that need to be achieved by education furniture manufacturers for functional dimensions, and also saftey requirements for strength and stability. Look out for the compliant logos when selecting your classroom furniture.
