The benefits of outdoor learning are numerous and it is often regarded as an essential counterpoint to the classroom. Outside, children can release pent up energy, sing, shout, and engage in more physical activities. It also provides the opportunity to interact with the natural world through planters, gardens, even trees and woodlands. All this can reduce stress, promote better health and nurture creativity. Outdoor learning spaces can be designed in much the same way as classrooms with different zones; quiet, physical, nature, art, sensory, etc. The scale and materials however can be larger and considerably more messy! Slides, towers, tunnels and bridges, planters, water, sand and mud can all form part of the picture. Safety is clearly a concern and due consideration should be given to fall zones, surfaces and access to shade. Our furniture consultants are on hand to guide you through every step of the design process.
